Meta unveils camera-free smart glasses and lightweight VR hardware FAST-MOVING

At the Meta Connect 2026 conference, Meta unveiled a new lineup of wearable technology centered on artificial intelligence and mixed reality. A primary announcement was the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, a camera-free model designed to address privacy concerns. Developed with EssilorLuxottica, these glasses weigh approximately 43 grams and offer up to 12 hours of battery life, with a total of 48 hours when using the charging case. They feature the Muse AI assistant and are priced at $349, with preorders beginning October 13.

Meta also introduced the Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight mixed-reality device scheduled for a Spring 2027 release at $1,299. To achieve a weight of only 100 grams, the device utilizes a tethered external puck containing the battery and processing hardware. The glasses feature 5K micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 2412 x 2288 pixels per eye and support hand and eye tracking for interface control.

Additionally, Meta showcased the Muse Charm, a dedicated handheld hardware device for interacting with the Muse AI agent, expected to launch in December. CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized Meta’s commitment to wearable AI, positioning these devices as potential successors to the smartphone.
