Meta unveils own‑branded AI smart glasses, drops Ray‑Ban name
Meta announced three new AI‑powered smart‑glass models—Adventurer, Fury and Starfire—marked as the first Meta‑branded wearables that no longer carry the Ray‑Ban or Oakley logos. The Starfire version is a limited collaboration with fashion influencer Kylie Jenner, featuring a gemstone‑inspired accent, metal nose pads and a custom voice assistant option. All three models are priced between $299 and $399 and retain the technical specifications of the previous Ray‑Ban Meta line, including a 12 MP camera, 3K video capture, five‑microphone array, eight‑hour battery life, IPX4 water resistance and support for up to 20 languages via real‑time translation.
The devices embed Meta’s new “Muse Spark” AI model, described by CEO Mark Zuckerberg as a “personal super‑intelligence” that can recognize the surrounding environment, understand visual context and provide navigation assistance. By branding the glasses with its own name, Meta aims to cement the association between the product category and the company before competitors such as Apple, Google, Samsung and Snap introduce their own offerings later in the year. Industry estimates project Meta could achieve a 69.2% market share of smart‑glass shipments by early 2026.
Meta continues to rely on EssilorLuxottica for manufacturing, lenses and distribution, but has removed the partner’s logos from the frames, signaling a shift toward a fully proprietary product line.
