Metacritic ranks Forza Horizon 6 and Mina the Hollower as top games of 2026 first half
Metacritic has published its mid‑year ranking of new video games released between January and June 2026, using the Metascore – a weighted average of professional critic reviews – from the platform that collected the most votes. The list includes only brand‑new titles and excludes ports and remasters such as Hades II or Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Forza Horizon 6 and the indie title Mina the Hollower each earned a Metascore of 90, tying for the top spot. Other games in the top‑20 range from Schrödinger’s Call and Pokémon Pokopia at 89 to Phonopolis at 84.
Forza Horizon 6, an open‑world racing game set in Japan, was praised for its visuals, over 550 cars and refined progression, while Mina the Hollower, a 2D action‑adventure from Yacht Club Games, was lauded for its challenging gameplay and distinctive pixel‑art style. Metacritic notes that the rankings may shift later in the year, especially with the highly anticipated November launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.
