Metal Gear Solid 4 arrives on multiplatform via Master Collection Vol. 2
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally a PlayStation 3 exclusive, has transitioned to a multiplatform release as part of the Master Collection Vol. 2. Eighteen years after its initial launch, the title remains a sophisticated entry in the franchise, serving as the narrative finale where the protagonist, now known as Old Snake, must return to action in a world dominated by private military companies led by Liquid Ocelot.
The port offers significant technical improvements over the original hardware. While the PS3 version experienced frame rates in the twenties, the new version consistently maintains 60 FPS, resulting in more responsive combat and smoother movement. Despite its 2008 origins, the game's detailed character models and ruined environments continue to hold up, maintaining the cinematic experience established by Hideo Kojima.
