Metal music concept albums selected for horror themes

A selection of eleven metal concept albums has been identified for their ability to be petrifying both conceptually and sonically. The list focuses on albums that utilize storytelling and sound to create a truly unnerving listening experience.

While some notable works like Queensrÿche’s ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ and Dream Theater’s ‘Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory’ deal with unsettling themes, they are noted for not providing a truly unnerving sonic experience. Similarly, the band Ice Nine Kills is described as dealing with horror subject matter in a way that is more fun and thematic rather than fully conceptual and frightening.
