Metall Zug reports signs of operational turnaround
Metall Zug has reported its semi-annual results, indicating the first signs of an operational turnaround. While the group recorded a loss of 4.4 million CHF, this figure is more than half of what was reported in the same period last year. Revenue increased by 1.4 million CHF to 95.6 million CHF, representing a currency-adjusted growth of 5.5%.
The group has transitioned into a holding company with major interests in V-Zug (33.3%), Komax (25%), and the Miele joint venture SteelcoBelimed (33%).
A significant portion of operational revenue (82%) comes from Haag-Streit. The medical technology firm saw organic growth of 6.5% in the first half of the year, driven by the market introduction of three new medical devices, including a new operating microscope. Haag-Streit achieved an EBIT of 2.7 million CHF, a notable improvement from a loss of 2.6 million CHF in the previous year's first semester. Additionally, the company recorded 1.3 million CHF in refunds for previously paid duties after a US Supreme Court ruling declared certain tariffs unlawful.
