Metallica frontman James Hetfield addresses political agendas at Sphere show
During Metallica’s ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, frontman James Hetfield addressed the audience regarding the band’s stance on social and political issues. Hetfield stated that the band is not there to influence fans with an agenda, asserting, “Metallica is not here, like some other entertainers, to influence you with their bullshit... We're here to forget about all the outside shit.” He emphasized that the band’s focus remains on “love, energy and heavy music.”
In addition to these remarks, the October 10 performance marked a change in the band’s ‘no repeat weekends’ setlist format. The group debuted the song “Until It Sleeps” from their 1996 album Load, replacing “King Nothing.” The performance utilized the Sphere’s high-resolution visual technology to display imagery inspired by the Load album cover. The residency is scheduled to continue through early 2027.
