Metallica begins immersive residency at Las Vegas Sphere
Metallica has launched its ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, marking the first time a metal band has performed at the high-tech venue. The residency consists of 24 shows scheduled through March 2027.
Following a ‘No Repeat Weekend’ format, the band performs entirely different setlists for each show. During the second performance on October 3, the group included rare tracks such as ‘Devil’s Dance’—performed for the first time in 18 years—and ‘The Outlaw Torn,’ which had not been played in seven years.
The shows utilize The Sphere’s immersive 16K wraparound LED screen and advanced sound system to create a multimedia experience. Visuals have included 3D depictions of Cthulhu, landscapes of ruins, and various horror-inspired imagery to complement the band's music.
