Metallica partners with Gears of War: E-Day for in‑game music and weapon skins

Metallica has teamed up with the upcoming video‑game prequel Gears of War: E‑Day. An instrumental version of the band’s 1984 track “For Whom the Bell Tolls” will be available as a selectable main‑menu theme and lobby music for versus and horde‑siege modes when the game launches on Oct 6. The instrumental is one of four music options at launch, with additional tracks expected later.

A premium cosmetic pack inspired by Metallica’s Ride the Lightning album will also be sold, featuring weapon skins that appear briefly in the multiplayer reveal trailer. Gears of War: E‑Day will be released for Xbox Series X/S and Windows, with pre‑orders open and an open‑beta starting Aug 6. The partnership coincides with Metallica’s upcoming residency at the Las Vegas Sphere in October.
