Metallica praises Ado for Summer Sonic 2026 performance

Japanese singer Ado received praise from the heavy metal band Metallica following her headlining performance at Summer Sonic 2026. During her set at the Marine Stage, Ado opened and closed her performance with a cover of Metallica’s iconic track, ‘Enter Sandman’.

Ado stated that the song choice was intended to show respect to the 25-year history of the Summer Sonic festival and the legendary artists who have headlined it. In response to her performance, Metallica posted a message on X, expressing surprise and appreciation. The band noted, ‘Watching younger generations find their way to our music never gets old... But we’ve never seen it done quite like Ado just did it. Opening AND closing Summer Sonic with “Enter Sandman”?! We’re blown away.’
