MetaMask integrates Stellar network for stablecoin payments

MetaMask has added support for the Stellar network across its mobile application and browser extension. Announced alongside the Stellar Development Foundation at the Meridian conference in Lisbon, the integration allows users to store, send, and receive XLM, Soroban standard tokens, and other assets using trustlines.

Existing multichain accounts will receive a native Stellar address. Users can import keys from external wallets and perform swaps between Stellar and other supported blockchains. The Stellar network, which has operated since 2014, focuses on low-cost, high-speed payments, processing approximately $55.6 billion in payments in 2025.

Technical requirements for users include manual procedures such as an initial deposit of at least 1 XLM to fund new addresses and the manual activation of trustlines to receive specific tokens like USDC. The Stellar network requires a 1 XLM reserve for standard accounts and 0.5 XLM per trustline.
