MetaOptics secures US$10 million to onshore metalens production
MetaOptics Ltd has secured an investment facility of up to US$10 million from White Lion Capital LLC, marking its first institutional investment from a United States-based firm. The funding, facilitated through a warrant deed, allows the company to raise capital by issuing up to 40 million new ordinary shares.
The proceeds are intended to accelerate MetaOptics' expansion in the U.S. market, which is a primary end market for its semiconductor optics. A key objective of the investment is to fund the establishment of the company's first front-end semiconductor fabrication line in the U.S. This facility will utilize 12-inch DUV immersion photolithography equipment for the mass production of metalenses and modules.
By onshoring design, manufacturing, and testing capabilities, MetaOptics aims to provide closer support to U.S. customers involved in consumer devices, co-packaged optics (CPO), optical interconnects, and AI data centers. The company is currently collaborating with several U.S. foundries to integrate its metalens designs into CPO architectures.
