Metaplanet to launch $1M Bitcoin-focused subsidiary in Hong Kong

Tokyo-listed Metaplanet has approved the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in Hong Kong, named Metaplanet Asset Management Asia Limited. The new unit is planned to have an initial capital of $1 million.

As part of the company’s Project Nova initiative, the subsidiary will focus on Bitcoin-linked investment strategies. It is designed to manage trading, position monitoring, and risk controls during Asian market hours, providing a complement to Metaplanet’s existing asset-management operations in Miami, Florida.

The subsidiary intends to invest both client funds and Metaplanet’s own capital into a variety of instruments, including Bitcoin, listed equities, preferred securities, and credit products. The company expects to incorporate the business in Hong Kong during September 2026. Simon Gerovich, Darren Winia, and Kelvin Lee are slated to serve as the initial directors.
