Meta's Facebook and Instagram suffer worldwide outage

Around 2:30 pm UK time on 12 June 2026, users of Facebook and Instagram began encountering "page not found" errors and slow loading, with many reports of being automatically logged out of the Facebook app. The disruption was reported from the United Kingdom as well as the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Spain and Hungary.

DownDetector recorded more than 41,500 reports of the platforms being down within minutes, and IsDown logged 3,720 user complaints in the preceding 24 hours. Meta has not issued a statement explaining the cause of the outage.

The issue affected both the main Facebook website and its Messenger service, with users seeing connection errors and messages stuck on "Connecting".
