Metchosin Day returns with community activities and barbecue

Metchosin Day is scheduled to return on September 13 at the Metchosin Municipal Grounds. The annual, free-admission event runs from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and features a variety of community activities.

Scheduled highlights include a pet show, a farmers market, sheep-shearing demonstrations, hayrides, and horse demonstrations hosted by the Metchosin Equestrian Society. The event also offers children's races, a petting farm, and a photography contest display organized by the Metchosin Community House. New sales tables on the Village Green will allow children aged 16 and under to sell handmade or locally grown goods.

The celebration concludes with an annual lamb and salmon barbecue at 4:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $30. Due to extremely limited parking, organizers recommend walking, biking, or using the shuttle service from St. Mary’s.
