Meteora Municipality provides first aid kits to combat poisoned baits

The Municipality of Meteora and KENAKAP SA have provided 80 first aid kits to the Kalabaka Hunting Association to combat incidents involving poisoned baits. This initiative aims to protect local wildlife and the natural environment.

The procurement was conducted under the European LIFE Bear-Smart Corridors program, which focuses on protecting wildlife, maintaining biodiversity, and promoting coexistence between humans and wild animals. The kits serve as essential tools for immediate response to poisoning incidents, particularly in areas frequented by hunters and gamekeepers.

Illegal use of poisoned baits poses a significant threat to biodiversity, as it can lead to the death of both target species and non-target animals. This collaboration between local government, hunting associations, and the scientific community is part of an effort to preserve the region's natural resources.
