Methodology for Verifying Kharkiv Air Raids Using OSINT and Defense Data

Kharkiv, a strategic city in north‑eastern Ukraine, is frequently targeted by long‑range air raids. Two Italian‑language articles outline a structured approach to verify such raids. The method combines geolocated mapping, video verification by OSINT communities (e.g., DeepStateMap, GeoConfirmed), and cross‑checking with two consecutive bulletins from the Ukrainian General Staff.

Three pillars guide the analysis: (1) visual verification of video frames against high‑resolution maps, (2) alignment with official reports to confirm weapon type and impact area, and (3) assessment of air‑defence capabilities, notably Patriot and NASAMS systems, to gauge interception success. The approach stresses multiple independent sources, frame‑by‑frame scrutiny of low‑quality footage, and identification of missile categories (ballistic, cruise, drone) based on trajectory and impact characteristics.
