Methods for strengthening the human immune system
Improving immune system strength involves a combination of dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and medical prevention. Key factors include maintaining a healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals, increasing physical activity, ensuring adequate sleep, managing stress, and avoiding substances that can weaken the body.
Research from the Boston University School of Medicine has highlighted the role of Vitamin D in immune response. A study of 235 patients hospitalized with coronavirus infections indicated that those with stable Vitamin D levels showed better management of the disease and higher lymphocyte counts. For patients over forty, stable Vitamin D levels were associated with a reduction in mortality risk of more than 50% compared to those with deficiencies, though researchers noted concerns regarding the sample size.
Vitamin D is primarily synthesized through skin exposure to sunlight, which is often insufficient during autumn and winter months. Dietary sources include fish, eggs, and full-fat dairy products.
