Metin Külünk criticizes voluntary return of illegal fund gains

Former AKP lawmaker Metin Külünk has criticized reports suggesting that individuals who obtained illegal gains from investment funds might be asked to return the money on a “voluntary basis.” Külünk described such a method as a “disgrace,” arguing that the state must use its full power to reclaim unjust enrichment rather than requesting it through persuasion.

Külünk emphasized that the burden of these illegal gains should not fall on taxpayers and stated that the President would not permit such a lenient approach. He concluded his remarks by referencing the Soma mine disaster to highlight the gravity of economic injustice.

Separately, political commentary has addressed internal dynamics within the AKP and the rise of grassroots movements in the YENİ Parti. Discussions have surfaced regarding political transfers between parties and the leadership style of Özgür Özel, with emphasis on returning decision-making authority to party members.
