Metinvest Adria advances environmental permit process in Piombino

Metinvest Adria is advancing the environmental permitting process for its project in Piombino. Following requests from the Tuscany Region for additional documentation and clarifications issued in July 2026, the company submitted the required information in two installments on August 11 and August 20.

The project is currently undergoing a verification phase regarding its susceptibility to a full Environmental Impact Assessment (VIA). Under current regulatory timelines, the competent authority has 45 days to adopt a decision, with a projected conclusion for this phase by October 4, 2026. Metinvest Adria stated that the submission of these integrations does not trigger a new 30-day public consultation period, as that stage was completed in previous phases.
