Metis Oxy plum named Flavor of the Year 2026 in Spain

The Metis Oxy plum has been named ‘Flavor of the Year 2026’ in Spain. The award was determined through blind tastings conducted by consumers, recognizing the variety for its specific taste, texture, aroma, and appearance.

Developed through a breeding program involving natural crosses between plum flowers and apricot pollen, the Metis Oxy variety is noted for its juicy pulp, crunchy texture, and natural sweetness. The plum is part of the Metis brand range, which includes other varieties such as Metis Sunny, Sunset, Safari, and Dark.

Camille Herouard, responsible for supply chain management and technical development at Star Fruits, stated that the award is the result of years of observation and selection aimed at combining pleasure with quality. The Metis brand products are available from June to November, extending beyond the traditional summer season.
