MeTL Group targets Botswana for Southern African expansion

Tanzanian conglomerate MeTL Group, led by Mohammed Dewji, is expanding its footprint into Southern Africa, specifically targeting Botswana as a strategic gateway to the region.

Following a meeting between Dewji and Botswana President Duma Boko in Gaborone, MeTL expressed interest in participating in the country's economic landscape, including potential engagement with the Botswana Stock Exchange. This interest aligns with the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP), a government initiative designed to diversify the national economy away from diamond dependency through private investment and job creation.

This move follows MeTL's recent expansion efforts in other African nations, including a previously announced $250 million investment plan in Mozambique intended to create up to 20,000 jobs.
