Metlen to sell Tamarico II hybrid energy project in Chile to Copec

Metlen has signed an agreement with Copec S.A., through its subsidiary Copec Flux S.p.A., for the sale of the Tamarico II hybrid project located in the Atacama region of Chile.

The project integrates a 165 MW photovoltaic power station with a battery energy storage system (BESS) currently possessing a capacity of 725 MWh, which has the potential to expand to 925 MWh. The sale is part of Metlen’s ‘Asset Rotation’ strategy, which involves developing, constructing, and operating renewable energy assets before capitalizing on their value.

Nikos Papapetrou, Chief Executive Director of M RESET, stated that the agreement highlights Chile’s strategic importance and demonstrates how combining renewable energy production with storage can support the energy transition and grid security.
