MetLife and Revolut partner for credit protection insurance in Europe

MetLife and fintech Revolut have entered into a partnership to offer credit protection insurance to customers in Portugal, Spain, France, and Romania. The optional coverage will be available directly through the Revolut app during the personal credit application process and for existing loan holders.

The insurance product features two distinct tiers. The base package covers death, temporary or permanent disability, and hospitalization, ensuring 100% of the debt is paid in cases of death or total permanent disability, and up to 12 installments in cases of hospitalization or temporary disability. A complete package is also available, which adds protection against involuntary unemployment to the base coverage.

Distribution will be managed by Revolut Insurance Europe UAB, an insurance broker based in Lithuania. The rollout will be phased, starting in markets where Revolut already provides consumer credit.
