MetLife Stadium Rated Worst World Cup Venue as Atlanta’s Mercedes‑Benz Stadium Tops Rankings

(ANSA) – The MetLife Stadium in New York‑New Jersey, renamed the NyNj Stadium for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, was judged the poorest of the 16 venues hosting the tournament across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Surveys of NFL players who use the arena and comments from the French national team after its match with Senegal highlighted short grass, an uneven playing surface and a remote, hard‑to‑reach location.

The Mercedes‑Benz Stadium in Atlanta received the top spot in the same ranking compiled by The Athletic. Centrally located, fully enclosed and air‑conditioned, the venue offers extensive amenities such as bars and restaurants and has a history of hosting major events, including the 2019 Super Bowl and the scheduled 2028 edition. Other stadiums named in the list were Seattle’s Lumen Field (2nd), Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium (3rd), Boston’s Gillette Stadium (4th) and Houston’s NRG Stadium (5th), with Monterrey, Toronto, Mexico City and Kansas City sharing the subsequent positions.
