Metán femicide: Accused suspect had prior history of gender violence

Gastón Fernando Ramírez, the 26-year-old accused of the femicide of Cintia Díaz Orellana in Metán, has a prior history of gender violence. Judicial records show that in March 2023, a woman and her baby reported him for physical abuse. Although protection measures were ordered at that time, the case was eventually archived because police were unable to notify him, as he had reportedly moved three months prior to their arrival.

Ramírez is currently detained in Villa Las Rosas and faces charges of aggravated homicide. Prosecutor Nicolás Rodríguez López is seeking witnesses to provide information regarding the night of the attack, noting that recent testimonies have identified other individuals present during the incident. The victim's family has organized a march to demand justice.
