Metrô-DF workers postpone strike in Distrito Federal
Workers of the Metrô-DF in the Distrito Federal have postponed a planned strike, originally scheduled for September 1, for 15 days. The decision followed a request from the Regional Labor Court of the 10th Region (TRT-10) and was approved during an extraordinary general assembly held on August 31.
The primary demand of the workers, represented by the Sindmetrô-DF union, is the authorization of a new public civil service examination (concurso público) to replenish the workforce. The union reports that the administrative process for this examination has been under the responsibility of the State Secretariat of Economy since 2024 and is currently awaiting a final signature from the Secretary of Economy.
A new assembly is scheduled for September 15 to evaluate the situation. If no favorable updates regarding the public examination or the collective bargaining agreement are provided by September 16, the workers will reconvene to decide on further industrial action. Metrô-DF has stated that services will continue normally and that the company remains committed to finding an amicable solution through ongoing negotiations.
