Metro de Madrid to implement flat 1.50 euro single ticket fare

Metro de Madrid will implement a flat rate for single tickets starting in October. The new policy sets the price at 1.50 euros, regardless of the number of stations traveled.

This change eliminates the progressive pricing system that has been in place since June 2012. Under the previous model, the fare started at 1.50 euros but increased by 10 cents for every station traveled after the fifth station, up to a maximum of 2.00 euros. The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, is expected to announce the measure during her upcoming regional address.
