Metro de Medellín closes eight stations on Line A after dual emergencies

The Metro de Medellín announced that Line A is operating in two isolated segments after two separate incidents involving persons on the tracks. Service now runs only between Niquía and Caribe, and between Prado and Poblado. Eight stations – Universidad, Hospital, Aguacatala, Ayurá, Envigado, Itagüí, Sabaneta, and La Estrella – remain closed until further notice. Commuters have been urged to use alternative bus routes and to monitor official channels for updates.

The disruptions affect students, workers and families travelling across the Valle de Aburrá on a Sunday, creating congestion at the remaining stations and prompting emergency evacuations where incidents occurred.
