Metro de Quito reports high user satisfaction and emergency readiness

The Metro de Quito has reported high levels of user satisfaction, with a rating of 9.9 out of 10 for service quality as of July 2026. According to the ‘Metro en Cifras’ report, users also gave high marks for security, accessibility, and punctuality. The system currently facilitates an average of 213,000 daily trips and has accumulated 165 million trips since its inception.

In terms of safety, nine out of ten women reported feeling secure while using the metro. The system also emphasizes social inclusion, noting that 17 million beneficiaries have used reduced fares for children and seniors, while 4.2 million have utilized preferential rates for people with disabilities.

To manage potential risks, the Metro de Quito maintains 11 specific protocols for emergencies such as earthquakes, floods, train derailments, and volcanic eruptions. These procedures are coordinated with local emergency institutions and ECU 911. In the event of a seismic incident, the priority is to halt operations and evaluate the situation before resuming service to ensure passenger safety.
