Metro de Santiago releases second edition of viral Michi Bip! card
Metro de Santiago released a second edition of the ‘Michi Bip!’ transit card on Wednesday, September 9, which sold out in minutes across 15 designated stations. The card features a design inspired by a viral orange cat seen during construction of the future Line 7, depicted wearing a safety helmet and vest.
To prevent the hoarding seen during the initial release of 10,000 units on August 26, Metro implemented a purchase limit of two cards per person. Despite these restrictions, high demand from commuters and collectors led to long lines and rapid depletion of stock at stations including Plaza de Maipú, Irarrázaval, San Joaquín, Tobalaba, and others across Lines 1, 2, 4, and 5.
