Metro do Porto Eurotram vehicles have 10 years of life left
The Portuguese government has confirmed that the 72 Eurotram vehicles used by Metro do Porto, which have experienced overheating issues during summer heatwaves, have an estimated remaining useful life of approximately ten years. This timeframe represents about one-third of the expected lifespan for this type of railway vehicle.
In response to inquiries from the Livre parliamentary group regarding service interruptions caused by air conditioning failures in July, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing stated that several measures are being implemented to mitigate climate control issues. These initiatives include the refurbishment of existing HVAC systems and the installation of new, higher-performance equipment to improve thermal comfort for both passengers and drivers during extreme heat.
