Metro Redux series receives free next-gen technical update

4A Games and Deep Silver have announced a free next-generation technical update for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. The announcement follows the franchise reaching a milestone of 50 million copies sold worldwide.

The update is not a full remake or remaster but focuses on technical enhancements. Key improvements include 4K textures, improved animations, higher-quality audio, and enhanced environmental details. On PC, the update will introduce DLSS support and spatial audio. Console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will support 4K at 60fps or upscaled 4K at 120fps. Specific hardware features such as PS5 Pro’s PSSR and Xbox’s TSR upscaling will also be supported.

The rollout schedule is as follows: the PC version will be available on October 22, 2026, via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Windows Store. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will follow on October 29, 2026. This update serves as a precursor to the upcoming release of Metro 2039, scheduled for February 4, 2027.
