Metro workers end strike after accepting new collective agreement

Workers in the warehouse, transport, and headquarters sectors of the Metro food group have voted 77% in favor of a new principle agreement, ending a strike that began on March 30. Employees are scheduled to return to work this Sunday.

The new collective agreement includes wage increases totaling 22% over five and a half years. This includes a 6% retroactive increase effective September 19, 2025, and an additional 4% increase applicable upon their return to work. The agreement also secures gains regarding job protection and occupational health and safety.

Union president Matthieu Lafontaine expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that members remained united and successfully defended their priority of wage increases. CSN leadership noted that the determination of the workers was decisive in reaching the deal.
