Metrobús plans 100% electric fleet transition by 2033
Metrobús authorities in Mexico City have announced a plan to transition the entire bus fleet to 100% electric power by 2033. The initiative aims to improve public transportation sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Currently, Line 3 operates with a fully electric fleet consisting of 60 units. The system has already integrated 168 electric units across various lines. The long-term goal involves replacing the total fleet of 980 units with electric buses.
To support this transition, officials plan to upgrade charging centers and implement solar-powered yards to generate electricity through sustainable means.
