MetroGAS launches early carbon‑monoxide safety campaign in Greater Buenos Aires

MetroGAS, Argentina’s third‑largest natural‑gas distributor, has started a public‑awareness drive ahead of the usual winter season to curb carbon‑monoxide poisoning. The company says a rise in incidents outside winter prompted the early rollout of nine key safety recommendations, which include annual inspections by certified gas technicians, ensuring a steady blue flame, daily ventilation, and avoiding the use of ovens or stoves for heating.

“Que un año no hayas tenido problemas en tu hogar no significa que al siguiente estés a salvo. Por eso es fundamental realizar controles periódicos y no esperar a que ocurra un incidente,” said Hernán Chiesa, MetroGAS’s public‑affairs and sustainability manager. The campaign also provides a list of registered gas technicians on the firm’s website and a free helpline (0800‑999‑1050) for emergencies. MetroGAS serves roughly 2.25 million customers across the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and surrounding districts such as Avellaneda, Lanús, Lomas de Zamora, and Quilmes.
