Metropolis of Elis and Ministry of Migration enhance cooperation

The Metropolis of Elis and the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum have entered a period of enhanced cooperation following a meeting in Pyrgos between the Minister, Athanasios Pleuris, and the Metropolitan of Elis.

A key outcome of the meeting was the resolution of legal and leasing issues regarding property provided by the Metropolis to host vulnerable refugees and migrants in Pyrgos. This facility has provided employment for over 50 local citizens. Additionally, the Metropolis's philanthropic institutions in Pyrgos and Gastouni employ approximately 150 workers, serving as a pillar for regional development.

The Metropolitan expressed satisfaction regarding funding released to the Philothei Church Foundation to meet increased social needs ahead of the Christmas season. Cooperation with the Ministry and local authorities is also facilitating infrastructure improvements, such as the renovation of church campsites in Skafidia and Lamia.
