Metropolitan Anthimos Siskos memorial service held in Pyrgos Keriou

Metropolitan Timotheos of Thessaly and Fanariotals held a memorial service on September 3, 2026, at the Holy Church of Saint George in Pyrgos Keriou to honor the memory of the late Metropolitan Anthimos Siskos of Nubia.

Anthimos Siskos (1890–1958) was a significant ecclesiastical and academic figure. Born in Pyrgos Karditsas, he graduated from the Theological School of Athens in 1922. His career included serving as the Director of the Ecclesiastical School of Lamia and as the priest of the Greek Church in Budapest. In 1930, he moved to Alexandria, where he served as the Secretary of the Holy Synod, and was later ordained Metropolitan of Nubia in 1940 within the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

In addition to his religious roles, Siskos contributed to theological education as a Professor of Pastoral and Canon Law at the Theological School of Thessaloniki, a position he held starting in 1951. The memorial service at his gravesite served as a tribute to his extensive theological and clerical legacy.
