Metropolitan City of Turin launches Digital Civil Service initiative

The Metropolitan City of Turin has announced a new call for the 2026 Digital Civil Service, offering 12 positions to support the “PA Digitale per Tutti – Facilitazione e inclusione” project. The initiative aims to assist citizens, particularly vulnerable populations, in navigating digital identity, online public administration services, electronic health records, and secure technology use. Ten positions are located within the province of Turin, with two in the province of Biella, covering various municipalities including Chieri, Ivrea, and Vigone. The 12-month program provides a monthly allowance of 519.47 euros.

This initiative aligns with broader national efforts to address Italy’s digital divide. Carmela Tiso, spokesperson for Accademia Iniziativa Comune, emphasized that digital literacy has become a fundamental form of 21st-century citizenship. She noted that structural gaps, such as cultural disparities and insufficient training, contribute to the digital divide in Italy, where less than half of citizens possess basic digital skills. Efforts to bridge this gap include investments from the PNRR, the establishment of Digital Facilitation Centers, and the Digital Civil Service to promote social inclusion and economic competitiveness.
