Metropolitan City of Venice lists three historic sites for sale to spur residential regeneration

The Metropolitan City of Venice announced the inclusion of three heritage properties in its alienation plan: the former chemistry school building in the centre of Mestre, known as the ex “palazzina della Chimica”; the 18th‑century Palazzo Donà Balbi on the Grand Canal in Venice; and the 18th‑century Villa Principe Pio in Mira on the Riviera del Brenta.

The sale aims to attract investment and promote residential redevelopment. The Mestre building covers about 3,085 m² and has a base auction price of €1.585 million. Palazzo Donà Balbi comprises roughly 3,037 m² of interior space plus 926 m² of external courtyards, with a starting price of €12.5 million. Villa Principe Pio, a historic villa on the Brenta, is also offered. All three properties have undergone recent restorations that preserve historic features such as frescoes, polychrome stucco, and Venetian‑style floors.
