Metropolitan Cleopa presides over Greek School of Stockholm opening
Metropolitan Cleopa of Sweden and all Scandinavia presided over the blessing ceremony for the start of the academic year at the Greek School of Stockholm. Accompanied by Bishop Bartholomaios of Eleia, the ceremony took place on Saturday, September 12, at the Sjölins Gymnasium facilities.
Operating since 1967, the school serves approximately 300 students from the Greek diaspora, providing instruction in the Greek language, history, and traditions. During his address to students, teachers, and parents, Metropolitan Cleopa emphasized the importance of maintaining cultural roots. Using the metaphor of a tree, he encouraged students to keep their roots deep in their heritage while growing their branches high in the society where they live.
The Metropolitan noted that learning the language connects children to their parents and grandparents, as well as to Greek history and culture. He also highlighted that true education involves using language to bring joy and hope to others.
