Metropolitan Damaskinos addresses scientific congress in Nicosia

Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania delivered a keynote address at the 25th Congress of the Christian Association of Cypriot Scientists (CHEKE) in Nicosia. The event, held on September 20, 2026, was held under the auspices of Archbishop Georgios of Nea Justiniana and all Cyprus.

In his speech, titled ‘The Exodus of Messolonghi: A Timeless Call to Freedom’, the Metropolitan drew parallels between the historical significance of Messolonghi and the historical memory of Cyprus. He emphasized that freedom, justice, and national dignity are values for which people and nations must sometimes pay the highest price. He described the meeting as a spiritual and historical encounter between two places connected by faith, history, and culture.
