Metropolitan Damaskinos issues message on the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania has released a Sunday message regarding the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. He describes the spiritual depth of the Cross as being beyond human logic, noting its theological dimensions transcend the material world.

The message highlights the historical significance of the Cross, referencing its discovery by Saint Helen and its return to Jerusalem in 629 AD by Emperor Heraclius. Damaskinos characterizes the Cross as the ‘door to Paradise,’ explaining that while Adam’s disobedience closed the way to eternal life, Christ’s obedience through his sacrifice reopened it.
