Metropolitan Damaskinos leads October 28 commemorations in Messolonghi

Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania led several ceremonies in Messolonghi and Agrinio to commemorate the national holiday of October 28. In Messolonghi, the events included a festive doxology at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Spyridon, a memorial service at the Monument to the Fallen, and a wreath-laying ceremony attended by local authorities, including the Mayor of Messolonghi and representatives from the Ministry of Culture.

Following the services, the Metropolitan observed a student and military parade. In his address, he honored the heroes of 1940 who resisted Axis forces and called for national unity against violence and fanaticism. Other scheduled activities included commemorative events at the Tripouei Cultural Center and religious services in Agrinio.
