Metropolitan Hierotheos leads religious feast in Agios Vlasios
Metropolitan Hierotheos of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios led religious celebrations in the village of Agios Vlasios Parakampylion, located in the Municipality of Agrinio. The festivities commemorated the miracle of Saint Blaise, Bishop of Sebasteia, who protected the village from Saracen invaders.
The celebrations included a Panegyric Vespers on August 16, 2026, with a sermon by Archimandrite Damaskinos Vasilopoulos, followed by a procession and artoklasia. On August 17, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Hierotheos, attended by several clergy members.
During his sermon, the Metropolitan referenced Saint Symeon the New Theologian, describing the Church of Christ as a “beautified jewel” and noting that a person united with God also becomes a beautiful jewel. He contrasted the spiritual world with the post-lapsarian world, which he characterized by deformity and social violence.
