Metropolitan Ierini Leads Greek Church Pilgrimage to Istanbul

A pilgrimage organized by Metropolitan Ierini of the Holy Metropolis of Florina, Pella and Edessa departed on 27 July 2026 with thirty youth camp leaders. The delegation visited the Zoodochos Pigi monastery in Balukli, toured the historic Hagia Sophia and its museum, and were received at the Ecumenical Patriarchate by Patriarchal Commissioner Metropolitan Geron Dérkón (Apóstolos).

The group continued to the Maraslee school for a meal, concluded the first day at the Panagia of Vlachero church, and on 29 July traveled to the island of Chalki. There they visited the Holy Trinity Monastery and the theological school, guided by Bishop Kassianos of Arabissos. The pilgrimage ended with a final tour of Istanbul on 30 July before the team returned to Greece.
