Metropolitan Ieronimos leads feast at Tyrnavos Monastery of Prophet Helius
On Sunday, 19 July 2026, Metropolitan Ieronimos of Larissa and Tyrnavos celebrated the festive evening at the Monastery of Prophet Helius in Tyrnavos, Greece. The event attracted a large crowd despite the intense heat, as worshippers came to venerate the holy icon of the fiery prophet, light candles and pray.
In his sermon, the metropolitan referenced the miraculous feeding of a widow in Sarethfa, Sidonia, and reminded listeners that material wealth and status are transient, urging trust in divine providence. Representatives of the clergy from the nearby Monastery of Varlam, as well as local officials—including the Deputy Regional Governor of Larissa and municipal councilors—were present. The monastery, recently reinforced by a brotherhood, continues to serve as a spiritual center for the community.
