Metropolitan Joanikije marks fifth anniversary of enthronement

September 5 marks the fifth anniversary of the enthronement of Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral at the Cetinje Monastery. He was chosen by the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church in May 2021 to succeed the late Metropolitan Amphilohije.

The original enthronement ceremony was led by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije. Metropolitan Joanikije is the 56th bishop of this 800-year-old diocese and the 41st metropolitan to be enthroned at the Cetinje Monastery. In his inaugural address, the Metropolitan stated that the Gospel of Christ would serve as the foundation for his service, aiming to unite his people and serve the Church as a pillar of truth.
