Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts Krasner and Pollock exhibition

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is hosting “Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous,” an exhibition featuring more than 120 works by the influential Abstract Expressionist couple Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock. The exhibition aims to present the two artists as equals, challenging historical narratives that often relegated Krasner to a supporting role in Pollock’s career.

The display highlights their parallel artistic developments and their shared history, including their time living and working in a rustic farmhouse in Springs, Long Island. This location served as a vital creative hub where Pollock developed his signature drip painting technique and where both artists sought isolation to focus on their work.

In addition to the museum exhibition, the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center on Long Island remains a significant historical site. Managed by Stony Brook University, the center preserves the studio spaces where the couple lived and worked, maintaining the environment that helped shift the center of the art world toward the United States.
