Metropolitan Museum of Art announces John Galliano retrospective

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute has announced a major retrospective titled “John Galliano: Horizons,” scheduled to run from May 9, 2027, to January 9, 2028. The exhibition will showcase over 200 pieces, including garments, sketches, and archival materials covering four decades of the designer's career at Givenchy, Christian Dior, and Maison Margiela.

The announcement has sparked debate regarding the museum's decision to honor the British designer following his 2011 dismissal from Dior after a video surfaced of him making antisemitic remarks. The museum stated that the exhibition aims to explore “how artistic achievements should be understood alongside ethical responsibility.”
